Groups now forming!

Groups are capped at 10 members.  A minimum of 5 members is required to meet.  All groups run 60-90 minutes.  Office location varies by group.  The following groups are now forming:

Coping with Anxiety & Stress Group
132 S. 17th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103

Thursdays, 5 -6 PM; Group now forming!

This structured group teaches skills in mindfulness, self-hypnosis, and heart-focused treatment (e.g. heart-rate variability) to better manage anxiety and stress.  While the group is more structured than a typical support or process group, the group setting allows group members to interact with one another, share feedback and learn in a supportive environment.

Please see the following flyer for more information.

Emerging Adulthood Group
132 S. 17th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103
Wednesdays, 7:30 - 9 PM / Currently running, 1-2 open slots

This adult group focuses on issues of emerging adulthood, including the themes of communication, commitment, trust, and intimacy.  Clients ages 25-40 years old, with moderate to high levels of functioning are most appropriate for this group.  In particular, this refers to a curiosity and capacity for insight and reflective functioning in a group setting.  Exceptions may be made for potential group members slightly younger or older, depending on maturity level and developmental issues.  The group will incorporate elements of attachment theory, interpersonal process, and mindfulness.  Special attention is given to interpersonal interactions between the group members, with an emphasis on greater awareness of "process" or how we relate to one another verbally and non-verbally.  One of the goals of this group is to help members develop greater awareness of their interactions in relationships.

SmegelBook

Dr. Spiegel's new book!

"This is the first well-informed and scientifically rigorous extension of attachment theory to group psychotherapy. It is a wonderfully constructed and imaginative text that is sure to become a clinically invaluable tool for all those who work with groups and an excellent introduction to students learning the art of psychological treatment."

— Peter Fonagy, PhD, FBA, Chief Executive of the Anna FreudCentre, and Freud Memorial Professor of Psychoanalysis, University College London, England
